EGP Tax Season Coronavirus Response and Preparedness

Clients and Friends:

It goes without saying, these are unprecedented and unsettling times. We at EGP want you to know that we are monitoring the evolving coronavirus situation closely, and are proactively taking steps to promote the health and well-being of our associates, our clients and the communities we are blessed to serve.

To that end, here are a few important things we want you to know:

-All of our offices have been and will continue to be, thoroughly cleaned and sanitized on a regular basis. In the interim, hand sanitizers are available for use in our offices, and frequently used surfaces will be continuously wiped down with disinfectant throughout the day.

-As recommended by the Center for Disease Control and the World Health Organization, EGP will practice “social distancing” to the fullest extent possible. While we prefer sit-down meetings with our clients, we are thankful today’s technologies provide healthy alternatives. Therefore, for the time being, and in order to safeguard the health of both you and our team, it is our plan to conduct as much business as possible via phone, secure email, our ShareFile document transfer system and video conferencing instead of face-to-face meetings. We ask that you assist us in that endeavor by limiting physical visits to our office locations as much as possible. If you have a previously scheduled appointment with one of our professionals, we will contact you to discuss alternatives for taking care of you.

-We already have the technology and systems in place that give our professionals the capability to work remotely and securely from any location so that we can continue serving our clients’ needs at the highest levels.

-It is anticipated that tax filing and tax payment deadlines will be extended soon, maybe by as much as 90 days. At this writing, we are still awaiting guidance on the specifics, but anticipate an announcement to be forthcoming soon. This does NOT mean work on your returns or other projects will stop, but it does give us flexibility that may be needed during this time to make sure you are served well.

-To make it easier and more convenient to pay your EGP statement for services rendered, we are waiving the service charge normally assessed for using a credit card to pay your bill. You can now do so without any additional charge.

And finally, we ask for your patience and understanding as we take care of our clients, associates and families in an uncertain environment that seems to change almost by the minute. It is our hope and prayer that this crisis is short-lived. In the meantime, it is unfortunately upon us, and we must all act with calm determination and thoughtful execution. We are here to help and are available to respond to your questions and concerns.

Together, we will weather this storm.
